How Much Does BPC-157 Cost? 2026 Price Guide

BPC-157 runs $28–$65 per 5 mg vial, $45–$110 per 10 mg, and $900–$2,400 per gram. See per-milligram math, kit discounts, and why cheap listings cost more.

Reference-grade BPC-157 sold as a research material typically lists at $28–$65 for a 5 mg vial and $45–$110 for a 10 mg vial from US suppliers that publish lot-specific analytical documentation. At single-vial pricing that is roughly $5.60–$13.00 per milligram. Ten-vial kits usually land at $180–$400 for 50 mg, or about $3.60–$8.00 per milligram. Gram-scale and wholesale purchasing drops the figure further, commonly $900–$2,400 per gram depending on documentation depth and purity specification. Overseas marketplace listings appear as low as $8–$15 per 5 mg vial, but those prices almost never include a lot-matched certificate of analysis, which changes what you are actually buying.

Below is where those numbers come from, and where the sticker price stops being the useful number.

What Actually Sets the Price

The synthesis itself is not the expensive part. BPC-157 is a 15-residue peptide (GEPPPGKPADDAGLV), and solid-phase synthesis at that length is routine chemistry. Crude peptide can be produced for well under $200 per gram at scale. The cost structure sits almost entirely downstream:

  • Purification. Moving crude material from ~70% to >98% by RP-HPLC costs yield. A prep run that recovers 55–65% of the crude mass is normal, so a 98% specification can consume 1.6–1.8 g of crude per gram of finished material.
  • Analytical release. A per-lot HPLC purity assay plus mass-spec identity confirmation runs $150–$400 per lot at a contract lab. Add net peptide content by nitrogen analysis or amino acid analysis and you are at $300–$650.
  • Lyophilization and fill. Sterile-adjacent filling, stoppering, and crimping into 2 mL vials adds roughly $1.50–$4.00 per unit including the vial, stopper, seal, and labor.
  • Lot size amortization. A $500 analytical package spread over a 100-vial lot is $5.00 per vial. Spread over a 2,000-vial lot it is $0.25. This single variable explains most of the spread between small-batch and volume suppliers.
  • Cold chain and handling. Lyophilized powder ships stable at ambient for short transit, but suppliers holding inventory at −20 °C carry freezer, monitoring, and excursion-logging costs that show up in the unit price.

The Number That Matters: Cost Per Assayed Milligram

A vial labeled "5 mg" is frequently labeled by gross fill mass, not by net peptide content. Lyophilized peptide purified by RP-HPLC using trifluoroacetic acid carries a TFA counterion, and residual water and salt remain after drying. Typical net peptide content for a TFA-salt peptide is 75–90% of gross mass. That means a 5 mg gross fill may contain 3.75–4.50 mg of actual peptide.

Run the arithmetic on two hypothetical listings:

Supplier B looks 41% cheaper. If net content is unstated and the lot turns out to be 60% peptide by mass, the real gap narrows to about 16% — and you have no document proving either figure. Purity by HPLC area percent and peptide content by mass are two different measurements, and a COA that reports only the first is answering half the question.

The only price that means anything is the price per milligram you can prove is in the vial.

What Documentation Costs, and What It Saves

Independently re-testing a lot you already bought costs money. Current contract-lab pricing for a single sample:

  • RP-HPLC purity, single method, single injection: $120–$220
  • LC-MS or MALDI-TOF identity confirmation: $150–$300
  • Amino acid analysis for net peptide content: $180–$350
  • Bacterial endotoxin (LAL), if relevant to your model: $95–$200
  • Turnaround: 5–15 business days standard, 48–72 hours at rush pricing (typically a 50–100% surcharge)

A full independent characterization package is therefore $400–$900 and two to three weeks. Against a $19 vial, verification costs 20–47× the material. That inversion is the entire argument for paying a premium to a supplier that already did the work and will hand you the chromatogram, the mass spectrum, the lot number, and the retention time. The failure cost is larger than the testing cost. If a 12-week study runs on an unverified lot and the material turns out to be 71% pure with a +18 Da mass adduct, the loss is not the $19 vial. It is the animal cohort, the technician hours, the reagents, and the calendar time — routinely $3,000–$40,000 for a small academic study, and unrecoverable.

When Paying More Is Wasted Money

Some purchases genuinely do not justify a premium lot, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

  • Method development and column conditioning. If you are establishing a gradient, tuning injection volume, or building a standard curve, a cheap lot of approximately correct material is adequate. You are characterizing your instrument, not the compound. Spending $65 instead of $19 buys nothing here.
  • Small pilot quantities. Buying a 50 mg ten-vial kit at $340 when the protocol consumes 6 mg wastes $300 in material that will sit in a freezer past its useful window. Single vials at higher per-mg cost are the cheaper total.
  • Teaching and demonstration use. Undergraduate lab exercises showing peptide handling or chromatographic separation do not need a 99.2% lot with full traceability.
  • You have no −20 °C or −80 °C storage. Lyophilized peptide held at ambient temperature degrades on a timescale of months rather than years. Paying for a high-specification lot and then storing it in a desk drawer converts a $110 purchase into a $110 unknown. Buy less, more often, or fix the storage first.
  • You cannot read the COA you are paying for. A certificate is a document you are expected to audit — retention time, peak area percent, observed vs. theoretical mass, lot number, analysis date, analyst signature. If nobody on the project will check those fields, the premium is buying reassurance rather than information.

Who Should Not Buy This At All

Plainly: research-use-only material is not a cheaper version of a pharmaceutical product, and no price tier changes that.

  • If your work requires GMP-manufactured material with a Drug Master File, a validated stability program, and full regulatory documentation, no research supplier at any price point meets that specification. GMP peptide manufacture starts around $15,000–$50,000 per lot and comes from licensed manufacturers on contract. Buying research-grade and hoping it clears an audit will fail the audit.
  • If your institution requires a qualified-vendor audit — site visit, quality agreement, ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 certification on file — most small resellers cannot supply the paperwork, and the ones that can price accordingly. Ask before the PO, not after.
  • If you need sterility or endotoxin limits for an in vivo model, confirm those assays exist for your lot. Purity by HPLC says nothing about endotoxin load.
  • If your intended application falls outside research use, this material is not appropriate, and the research use only terms apply without exception.

Realistic Total Cost For a Project

Budget the material as one line among several. A representative small research project consuming 40 mg:

  • Material, 8 × 5 mg vials at documented purity: $240–$400
  • Independent confirmatory testing on the working lot (optional, recommended for published work): $400–$900
  • Freezer allocation, amortized: $50–$150 per project-year
  • Shipping, standard domestic ground: $8–$25; overnight with cold pack: $45–$90 (shipping)
  • Contingency for one replacement lot: $30–$50

Total realistic range: $728–$1,565, of which the peptide itself is 25–35%. Suppliers competing purely on the $19-vs-$32 line are competing over roughly 2% of the project budget.

Practical Price Benchmarks

Reasonable expectations as of mid-2026, per milligram, for material with a lot-matched COA:

  • Single 5 mg vial: $5.60–$13.00/mg
  • 10 mg vial: $4.50–$11.00/mg
  • 50 mg kit: $3.60–$8.00/mg
  • 1 g bulk: $0.90–$2.40/mg
  • Sub-$3.00/mg at single-vial quantity: verify the COA before assuming the purity claim holds

Prices below roughly $2.50 per milligram at retail vial quantity are difficult to reconcile with per-lot analytical release at small batch sizes. That does not automatically mean the material is poor — it means the analytical cost was either amortized across a very large lot or not incurred, and the listing should tell you which.
